WHAT IS A SPEECH ACT?

Read the first section of Allan's "Speech Act Theory" and build a definition for speech act. It should not take more than one single statement.

Most of your definitions are quite right. I wouldn't use, however, words such as "aspects" in the first part of the definition. Instead, I'd use "utterance" or other similar terms.
